Weekly happenings | Stinky feet, poopy diapers and other parenting dilemmas

My week in review with the family.  This week they definitely won.

E

We’ve had a rough week unfortunately, might have had something to do with Fun Friday (aka eat as much sugar as possible).  I don’t know if you’ve ever watched the movie Due Date, but there scene where Robert Downey Jr goes off and one line pretty much summed up my day as a mom.  ‘Number one; if you ask me a single question I’m going to flip out on you, so don’t do that. Do you understand?’

She knows how to play the guilt trip though.  After her sixteenth time getting in trouble, I got an apology that went like this.  ‘I’m sorry I make your life miserable.’  I can’t win.

I would like to point out she started it by asking me if I was pregnant again.

MT

While playing Superman yesterday Montana stopped to sniff my socks and then started to gag.  Really?  Coming from someone who consistently melts my eyebrows with his nasty corn diapers.

We got to help Clara Muffin Toss with Mickey on the Disney Channel.  The writers must know how that sounds…right??

Up until this week I loved taking MT to the grocery store.  He has always been so helpful, putting veggies in the bags and waving to the little old ladies.  Not this time.  We even had the insanely impossible to manuever car-cart.  He spent half the time with his legs hanging out the plastic window kicking and screaming.  At least I live in south eastern Idaho, so we tend to blend in a little more.

RJ

She has decided to practice a new type of scream.  I’m really hoping she isn’t inspiring to be my Chatterbox #2

The sad thing is this was taken at 3pm

Like I need another obsession

I am learning that I am the queen of great ideas.  Amazing ideas.  Way too many freakin ideas.  I evidently am not busy enough chasing around and entertaining 3 kids while still working part time as an ICU nurse.  Don’t forget about my Italy travel planning business or the two books I am in the middle of writing.

I have been dragging my heels about starting this blog, good idea or not.  The other day I realized that I couldn’t remember when my two year old started crawling or how I got him to drop a nap.  Time (and a touch of insanity) is blurring the details of my life, stuff I really don’t want to forget.  So, here I am.  Starting a journey to document my family and all our outrageous happenings.  It’s a blog for me but if I happen to entertain a few people along the way all the better.

Well….here goes nothing!

Apple Heart Sandwich

Recipe thanks to the cool site Happy Together.  Check out her awesome site!

Slice an apple thinly, then use a small cookie cutter (heart shaped one shown here).

Spread with peanut butter and top with your favorite add-ons (raisins, granola, dried cherries, chocolate chips for just a few ideas).

You can even let them build the sanwich…if you dare!

Ingredients:
1lb of Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts (about 3)
2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
2 cans (10.5oz) Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup
1 can (14oz) Chicken Broth
1 medium White Onion, diced
4 Large Flaky Refrigerator Biscuits (half a can)
Place thawed chicken in crock pot and top with butter.  Add cream of chicken soup, chicken broth and diced onions.  Cook on High for 4-6 hours or Low for 8 hours.  Do not stir while cooking.
Cut each uncooked biscuit into 9 small pieces and stir into the chicken mixture.  Continue to cook on High for 30 minutes. Remove chicken from slow-cooker and shred with a fork.  Return to slow-cooker and stir everything together.  Serve hot.
Makes about 6-8 servings.
